Bill,
First, make sure you have the recall fix done. If you have a rubber heat flap on the portion of the rear lid closest to the rear window, get rid of it., that was partof the recall.
Now, get some high quality heat insulating tape, the very thin kind not the tick stuff. You'll know if the tape costs less than a dollar it's the wrong stuff. You DO NOT want the aluminum muffler tape. This is a fiberglass backing on aluminum tape but the aluminum is very very shiny. The fiberglass is very very thin, almost like paper.
Run a sectin of the tape along the lowermost portion of the window. I noticed an immediate lowering of the temperature of the glass. When that heat gasket is removed for the recall, very high temperature air blasts on the rear window. All you are doing is letting that hot air hit the heat tape and flow upward into the air vortex behind the window where it can blow away.
This will cost you about $16.00 and 5 minutes of time. You'll have tape left over which you can use to cover the battery compartment area closest to the engine as well as the part of the air cleaner casing. It helps there too, just make sure the battery holder where you puton the tape is absolutely clean.
